Effective Electrostatic Filtration Systems for Diverse Industrial Processes

Electrostatic filters are the intelligent further development of the proven filter and the perfect alternative to dry separators. An electrostatic separator uses the physical principle of deflecting electrically charged aerosols in an electric field to efficiently keep the air clean for people, machines and valuable products in production. The electrostatic filter works as follows: It has an ionization zone in which solid or liquid aerosols are unipolar charged. These are transported in the extracted carrier gas (air). The electrostatic filter also contains a separation zone downstream of this process, a so-called collector in the electrostat. The collector can usually be imagined as a series of vertical metal plates. These are parallel to the air flow and so it is possible that inside the collector of an electrostatic filter, electrostatically charged aerosols are directed towards the grounded plate, which is only possible thanks to an induced electric field. At the end, the aerosols are separated on the collector plates of the electrostatic filter. And from there, thanks to gravity, they can simply flow to where they can no longer cause any damage.

Why should you choose electrostatic filters?

An electrostatic filter function for coolant mist or for oil and emulsion mist is indeed the ideal solution when you want to ensure safety in your production, a healthy working environment free of aerosol, and ultimately also sustainability and environmental protection. This applies as a solution for both industry and skilled trades. At LTA, we have designed the pre-filters and main filters of our electrostatic filters to be completely washable. This in turn makes them reusable and thus also contributes to your sustainability goals as well as to a working environment that goes beyond mere compliance with legal standards. Furthermore, our electrostatic filtration systems are also attractive when it comes to cost-sensitive procurement. What’s more: As extremely flow-optimized solutions, our electrostatic coolant mist filter stands for a long service life as well as for lasting and consistent performance in extraction systems. And should the need arise, our service is immediately available to you.

Costs are important, but clean air is vital

Pre- and post-filters are included for high effectiveness

Designing cooling lubricant mist filters electrostatically also means that, thanks to our technology, they are able to separate particles with a size of more than 1µm. By using our pre-filter, we ensure that the subsequent filter elements of our electrostatic filters in the extraction system are protected from foreign bodies. This also contributes to the functionality and long service life of our electrostatic filters.

Once the ionizer in our electrostatic filtration systems for coolant mist has completed its work (see above), an optional post-filter ensures that, for example, odor is eliminated or process peaks are compensated.

You have the choice for an electrostatic filter – but no agony
We are always at your disposal

To make your decision easier, we have compiled the most important selection criteria for you here. Of course, our experts are always available to advise you.

But first, a brief decision-making aid for you:

Suction capacity:

For coolants, a guideline air exchange rate of 250 times per m3 and h is assumed. As an example, for a machining chamber in the machine of 4 m3 and automated loading, a required effective extraction capacity of approximately 1,000 m3/h results. In this example, therefore, a filtration system of the E 120 series.

One or two stages?

For coolant pressures of up to 40 bar, single-stage air filters (e.g., E 120-1) can be used; for pressures above 40 bar, the two-stage variants (e.g., E 120-2) of the electrostatic filtration systems for industry and skilled trades are recommended.

Horizontal or vertical?

Electrostatic filters such as E 80-1, E 240-1 and E 240-2 are available in both horizontal and vertical versions.

Of course, our electrostatic filters can be used as individual or group extraction systems.
