Effective oil mist separators for a wide range of processes

LTA’s mechanical filter is in no way in competition with our electrostatic filter technology, simply because both variants lead to the same goal: clean air and thus safety for people working in industrial production or skilled trades. We cover applications where electrostatic filters are only partially effective with our expertise in customized mechanical filtration systems for coolant mist. A central component for a mechanical filtration system is the optimization of flow conditions in such a way that optimal extraction can be achieved with low volume flows. In this way, LTA’s mechanical filter is optimized to ensure aerosol capture with minimal energy consumption, and to maximize the service life of the filter elements. Mechanical filters par excellence, so to speak.

The mechanical filter that uses sophisticated elements?

LTA’s mechanical filtration systems for coolant mist are, of course, also suitable for separating emulsion and oil mist. LTA’s mechanical filter uses various mechanical filter elements to clean contaminated air and extract emulsion and oil mist.

To ensure consistently high separation efficiency for the sustainable protection of people, the environment, production facilities, and products in industry and skilled trades, coarse particles are separated in the first stage of the air filter using a pre-filter. This operates on the principle of inertial separation and protects against foreign bodies. The pre-cleaned air in the “mechanical filtration system” then flows through the main filter. This cleans the air of coolant particles. Depending on the density and design of the main filter elements, progressively smaller particles are separated. The process of particle separation is described by the following four types:

  • Sieve effect
  • Inertia effect
  • Barrier effect
  • Diffusion effect

On request, we can equip mechanical filters with a secondary filter in order to achieve even higher filter classes than those installed in the main filter, for example. In an activated carbon version, odors can also be eliminated or reduced by mechanical filters from LTA.

Areas of application for mechanical filters from LTA

  • Separation of oil and emulsion mist, e.g. in machine tools and machining centers
  • Applications with minimum quantity lubrication
  • Special applications such as the extraction of plastic, silicone and release agent vapors
  • Collection & separation of soldering, welding and oil smoke
  • Extraction of pollutants from cleaning vapors, aquatensides and dielectric

We design mechanical filters from LTA – just like electrostatic filters, by the way – for your needs, both as individual and group extraction in machine tools and machining centers.

Naturally, our filter elements and their efficiency are tested and confirmed according to DIN standards. The safety-related components for our mechanical filtration system for coolant mist have also been approved by IBExU.

Mechanical filters from LTA are available in the following designs:

Compact
The M 60 / 150 / 250 / 400-CMP filtration systems impress with high efficiency and reliability for flexible use in space-critical installation situations. What is particularly noteworthy: these mechanical filters belong to our entry-level price segment. Our mechanical filtration system for coolant mist has the significant advantage of a compact design. This means that this mechanical filter has a lower weight. This, in turn, means that the filtration systems can usually be integrated directly onto the machine hood. This saves piping systems and additional installation space.

Standard
The M 120 / 240 filtration systems guarantee durable and economical operation for a wide range of applications. Since they are modular, they are particularly suitable for meeting customized requirements – offering individuality to the highest degree. With additional options such as customized interfaces, these filtration systems or mechanical filters offer particularly high variability.

Floor-standing units
Thanks to ideal flow conditions and variable equipment, longer service lives for the filter elements of the M 200 / 400 / 600 filtration systems can be guaranteed. The advantage: reduced follow-up costs.
These powerful floor-standing units also offer the option of single-station or group extraction. The modular design also allows for a flexible response to different extraction volumes.

Variants

CMP is a compact version of the “LTA mechanical filters” and is therefore ideally suited for use where the installation area is relatively limited. This means that no matter how tight things get, sustainable protection of people and the environment is always possible thanks to LTA.

The M 120 filtration system is optionally available in a mobile version with an extraction arm for flexible use in all applications.
